A downloadable Character generator

Roll 1d4, 1d6, 1d8, 1d10, 1d12, and 1d20. Consult tables to create and equip a character. Very fast, very simple.

This system neutral character generator spawns whimsical fantasy weirdos with a random personality, purpose, and 5 pieces of random equipment well suited to tactical infinity, creative problem solving, and lateral thinking.

Each generated character will fall into one of six "classes" - Arcanist, Root Elf, Warrior, Intellectual, Miscreant, and Oddball. A "class" gives a character a piece of gear and an idea of what the character is all about. A character of a given class will have one of four "subclasses," which provides another piece of gear and a specific goal the character is interested in. Each class also has it's own random "bonus tool" table that provides a third piece of class-related gear. Random personality, expeditionary gear, and unusual weapon tables further round out the character and their equipment. Just add attribute scores and levels and whatever other doodads your system of choice entails and you've got a unique fantasy adventurer primed for shenanigans.

The characters will work with any adventure, but I wrote this with Undertree Temple of the Elf Gods especially in mind (that adventure already includes this generator).

A character generated with this will have everything needed for a game of Adventure Hour! and very nearly everything you need for the rules-lite, slot-based games Cairn and Knave.

This is great! Love the speed with which things come together. I'll definitely try this for my next one-shot game. I think tying the motivations with the class/subclass is a good idea. I've felt in the past rolling random motivations makes it tricky to connect them to a character especially if everything was randomly generated.

One small edit: by the "Bonus Tool" text next to "Arcanist",  I think it should say "d8" and not "d4".

Thank you! Yeah, combining the "role and goal" and having a table of class-specific gear helps get the strengths of both a thematically cohesive pregen and an inspiringly random PC. In the first game of Braunstein, David Wesely gave role/goal combos like "you're the town mayor and you want to get your son out of prison after he got arrested rioting last night" and "you're a Napoleonic dissident and you want to spread leaflets around town" - and that was delightful enough that it spawned the whole RPG hobby!

I really appreciate the edit, too - I just uploaded a fixed/updated version.
